Master's Degree and Certificate programs in:
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL):
Get your MA in TESOL from a pioneer in the field of teacher training.
Choose between two degree formats. Both TESOL programs — on-campus and online — are designed to meet the career goals of students seeking a master’s degree in EFL, ESL, ELT, TESL, or TESOL.
Through the full-time MA in TESOL program, students can complete their degree in just one year. This means you pay less in tuition and start teaching sooner. The program begins in September, concludes in May, and culminates with a portfolio of learning.
This distance-learning program for working professionals offers current teachers SIT’s highly regarded TESOL graduate education—grounded in reflective practice and experiential learning—through a remote format. Students complete the majority of coursework online while staying in their current jobs and communities and enjoy two short-term (3-week) summer sessions on SIT’s beautiful campus in Vermont.
Both MA programs lead to the same degree and include similar courses. All students develop a practice of reflection, learn through experience, and are able to situate their work in a global context. Learning is balanced in the domains of knowledge, skills, attitude, and awareness in the context of language.
