Mary Kay Sigda
Faculty and Staff:
Senior Admissions Officer
Mary Kay is a senior admissions officer with eight years of experience working with students at SIT. Her goal is to help students determine their goals and to align them with their best experience options here at SIT. She is also a member of our adjunct faculty—so the students she helps admit are often in her classroom! She draws on her experience at SIT, where she earned her master’s degree in intercultural service, leadership, and management.
She brings over 30 years of teaching and administrating experience in Mexico, Kenya, Niger, France, UK, and Poland. She graduated from Dickinson College with a bachelor’s in English literature and completed three Cambridge TESOL courses including the CELTA, DELTA, and Young Learner’s Certificate.
One of the best parts of her admissions role is chatting to and “geeking out” with prospective students about theories of learning, including how SIT’s experiential and adult learning theories transform their master’s degree experience. She has taught courses in intercultural communication, training, and organizational behavior and leadership.
Her academic areas of interest include communication across social class, the process of giving and receiving feedback, and learning theories. When she’s not at work, she loves to cook, exercise, watch foreign films, and read African women writers and mystery novels.
