Dr. Utsuk Datta is a physician by training with an MD in community medicine. He served on the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), one of the premier public health research institutes in India. He served for 28 years as senior faculty member at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), the apex institute of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, responsible for the training and teaching of public health professional, research, policy development and advocacy in the field of public health. He is recognized as a public health expert in India. Currently he is working as consultant epidemiologist at the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in India. He has been associated with various international organizations including Nuffield Institute of International Health in the UK, Harvard School of Public Health in the U.S., Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in the U.S., World Bank Institute and the World Health Organization.
