Director of International Student and Scholar Services
Janet Hulnick is the director of International Student and Scholar Services at SIT Graduate Institute and supports the Student Affairs on-call team for SIT Study Abroad. She has more than 25 years’ experience in immigration and support services for international students and scholars. Janet has expertise in F-1 and J-1 student government regulations and serves as the Primary Designated Student Officer (PDSO) for the graduate institute. In her role as director, she serves as the advisor to the international student organization, ISAP. Janet enjoys supporting international students with their overall adjustment to SIT Graduate Institute and living in the United States. She conducts training on culture shock and US cultural adjustment as well as cross-cultural relationships. Janet has been an active member of the National Association of International Educators (NAFSA) for more than 20 years and served as the Vermont state representative to NAFSA from 2007 to 2009. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Janet has taught Spanish at the elementary and secondary level. Janet is also active in the Brattleboro community. She served as a board member of the Brattleboro Area Drop-in Center for five years and is a current volunteer with the Windham County Humane Society. Janet earned her master’s degree in intercultural management from SIT in 1989 and completed the SIT TESOL certificate program in 2016.
