JET Programme

AJET logoSIT Graduate Institute has partnered with the Association for Japanese Exchange and Teaching (AJET) to provide financial assistance to JET Programme alumni interested in pursuing a graduate degree at SIT. This partnership highlights the visions and values of both organizations in integrating the power of education as a tool to promote greater understanding across cultures. The partnership will help bring individuals with experience living and teaching in Japan to SIT Graduate Institute.

Benefit

Up to five scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded each year on a competitive basis to JET alumni.

Eligibility

  • JET Programme alumni or current Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) who are accepted into an SIT master’s degree program and have completed at least one year of teaching with the JET Programme are eligible for a competitively awarded $5,000 scholarship.
  • SIT students interested in working for the JET Programme and who successfully meet JET Programme entry requirements may fulfill SIT’s practicum requirement by working as a JET Programme participant.
  • Current JET ALTs who plan to continue with the JET Programme beyond one year will be eligible to combine their JET position with SIT’s low-residency Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program, which is based primarily online with two 3-week residencies in Vermont from late July to mid-August.
  • SIT will waive the application fee of $50 for JET alumni.
