SIT Graduate Institute is a nonprofit, accredited graduate school that offers master's degrees, graduate level certificates, and professional development programs.
SIT focuses on social justice, experiential education, intercultural communication, and cohort-based learning and has done so since our founding as a training center for early Peace Corps volunteers more than fifty years ago.
The defining features of an SIT graduate experience include:
Acquire the skills you need
with the approach you seek.
SIT alumni are working worldwide in the fields of sustainable development, international education, English teaching, peacebuilding and conflict transformation, food security, nonprofit management, and monitoring and evaluation, among many other areas.
SIT delivers programs through on-campus and hybrid formats to accommodate a global student body living and working around the world.
SIT’s beautiful 200-acre campus in Brattleboro, VT, provides students with a supportive learning community within the socially and politically dynamic environment of southeast Vermont. See all Vermont-based programs.
The SIT Washington, DC Center offers full- and part-time graduate programs. In addition to studying in the heart of the US capital, students enjoy access to World Learning’s professional development staff and experts from agencies and organizations throughout DC. See all DC-based programs.
You can obtain an SIT education without leaving your job or community. Each year, students from around the world advance their education through an SIT hybrid option—online programs with short residencies. See all online programs.
Each year, SIT welcomes students from all over the world—between 25 and 35 percent of SIT Graduate Institute students are international. Visit the international student section of the website to learn more.
